As chair of the Technology, Media & Entertainment Group, Barry represents start-up, growth and mature companies, and related private and public financing sources on corporate and other business structuring; public and private financings; the protection and commercialization of intellectual property; licensing and other distribution arrangements; strategic alliances, partnerships and joint ventures; IPOs and stock exchange listings; mergers and acquisitions; and restructurings. Barry regularly advises boards, directors and management teams on governance, director protection and risk management matters. He is an experienced director and has chaired boards and various board committees for public, private, non-profit, regulatory and governmental companies. His current board roles include Baylin Wireless Technologies (Lead Director), Think Research (Chair Corporate Governance), StarTech.com (Advisory Council) and RIMES Technologies. Formerly a law Professor at the Faculty of Law, University of Toronto, Barry has written extensively on contracts, corporate governance, advisory boards and joint ventures. He is one of the lead authors of Directors' Duties in Canada, 7th Edition (LexisNexis 2021).
