Stephen Shamie is Hicks Morley's managing partner and has been in that role since 2003. He has over 25 years of experience advising and representing employers on a wide variety of matters relating to human resources law. Stephen’s practice emphasizes the negotiation of collective agreements and the defence of employers in arbitration cases, human rights hearings, labor board proceedings and before the courts. He regularly negotiates collective agreements in the hospitality, media, sports and industrial sectors. Stephen has acted as lead employment and labor counsel on many different corporate transactions and has been retained on numerous occasions by both corporations and other law firms. He is named in the 2005–2016, The Lexpert®/American Lawyer Guide to the Leading 500 Lawyers in Canada and listed Most Frequently Recommended in The Canadian Legal Lexpert® Directory 2016. Stephen is listed in International Who's Who of Management Labour and Employment Lawyers, 2013–2016, Who's Who Legal: Canada 2013–2016, Legal 500 Canada 2016 and The Best Lawyers in Canada 2007–2017, with Best Lawyers naming him a 2016 "Lawyer of the Year" in the area of labor and employment law – Toronto.
