Andy Kent is co-Chair of the Firm’s Financial Services and Restructuring Group. His practice has a particular focus on restructuring, finance and distressed M&A. For many years Andy has been rated in leading directories as a preeminent restructuring practitioner, as a leading banking lawyer and as one of Canada’s foremost business lawyers. Andy has been commended for his strategic abilities, technical excellence, practical trouble shooting and problem solving skills, and clarity of thought and expression. He is also well known for his energetic pursuit of clients’ interests. Representative matters include leading roles in major transactions involving all significant industry sectors with extensive cross-border, court and international aspects. Andy has repeatedly been a key innovator in developing original approaches and structures. He has provided important leadership in the reform of Canada’s business insolvency statutes. He has written and lectured extensively, including serving as an Adjunct Professor, Faculty of Law, University of Toronto. Andy is a Fellow of the Insolvency Institute of Canada. In 2011, he was identified as one of the 25 most influential lawyers in Canada.
