Bentall Acquires Two Edmonton Towers

On November 23, 2010, Bentall LP acquired Canadian Western Bank Place and Enbridge Tower in Edmonton, Alberta on behalf of certain of its pension fund and institutional clients from Brookfield Properties, CPP Investment Board and AIMCo. The purchase price for the transaction was not disclosed.

Thomas von Hahn and Lauren Temple in Toronto and Garth Anderson and Jennette Vopicka in Calgary of Blake, Cassels & Graydon LLP represented Bentall LP.

Cameron Black, Vice President, Legal of Brookfield Properties; and Greg Plater, Mark Christensen and Rose Anderson of Stikeman Elliott LLP in Calgary represented Brookfield, CPP Investment Board and AIMCo.

Douglas Montemurro of Parlee McLaws LLP acted for Great-West Life Assurance Company of Canada and London Life in connection with the new financing and assumption of existing financing on Canadian Western Bank Place and Kevin Lynch of Bennett Jones LLP represented Standard Life Assurance Company of Canada in connection with the assumption of the existing financing outstanding on the Enbridge Tower building.
