SITQ Immobilier Acquires Landmark Montreal Property

On February 22, 2002, SITQ Immobilier, a subsidiary of CDP Capital (Caisse de dépôt et placement du Québec), acquired from BCE Inc. and Teleglobe Inc. a landmark property in downtown Montreal, Le 1000 de La Gauchetière. The value of the deal is undisclosed.

SITQ was represented by vice-president and general counsel Rémi Gagnon, assisted by Fasken Martineau DuMoulin LLP’s real estate group in Montreal and in-house counsel Claude Molleur. Claude Gendron headed the Fasken Martineau DuMoulin team that included René Cadieux and Lise Rochette (competition), Daniel Martin (title) and Christine Malenfant and Katherine Tremblay (due diligence).

Jim Leung, senior director, BCE Ventures, led the negotiations on behalf of BCE and Teleglobe, assisted by Patricia Olah, vice-president, corporate affairs. Ogilvy Renault was retained to represent both BCE and Teleglobe, with a team comprised of John O’Connor, Mario Caron, Miguel Manzano, Sandro Cellucci and Nicolas Labrecque.
