$91.6M Windsor Regional Hospital Project Reaches Financial Close

On June 4, 2009, Windsor Regional Hospital reached financial close with Bondfield Construction Company Limited to build and finance the hospital's redevelopment project. The building team, led by Bondfield Construction and advised by National Bank Financial, includes financing by Bank of Montreal acting as administrative agent, National Bank of Canada, Laurentian Bank of Canada and The Toronto-Dominion Bank.

The project includes new construction to provide a specialized mental health hospital of more than 75,000 square feet; an increase in overall capacity of up to 65 specialized mental health beds and 60 rehabilitation beds; and renovations to more than 35,000 square feet of space in the Tower Building. The value of the contract for Windsor Regional Hospital's project is $91.6 million.

The Windsor Regional Hospital and Infrastructure Ontario's legal team were led in-house by Vernita Tsang and Andrés Durán, legal counsel with Infrastructure Ontario and by Borden Ladner Gervais LLP with a team that included Richard Shaban, William McLean, Daniel Boan, Carolyn Wainman, Andrew Smith, Shane Pearlman and Tiffany Murray.

Bondfield Construction was represented by Osler, Hoskin & Harcourt LLP with a team that included Rocco Sebastiano, Danna Donald and Elliot Smith.

The lead arrangers, lenders and administrative agent were represented by Byran Gibson, Jill Pereira and Olga Bochkaryova of McCarthy Tétrault LLP.
