Aberdeen G7 Trust Completes IPO

Aberdeen G7 Trust, an investment trust, completed an initial public offering of 14.75 million trust units at a price of $15 per trust unit for gross proceeds of $221.25 million on February 12, 2002. On March 1, 2002, the agents for the offering exercised the over-allotment option in respect of 495,131 trust units for additional gross proceeds to the trust of $7,426,965.

The syndicate of agents for the offering was co-led by CIBC World Markets Inc., RBC Dominion Securities Inc. and TD Securities Inc. The other members of the syndicate were National Bank Financial Inc., BMO Nesbitt Burns Inc., HSBC Securities (Canada) Inc., Scotia Capital Inc., Desjardins Securities Inc., Raymond James Financial Inc., Yorkton Securities Inc., Canaccord Capital Corporation and Trilon Securities Corporation.

Stikeman Elliott acted for the trust and Aberdeen Asset Managers (C.I.) Limited, the investment manager and promoter of the trust, with a team that included William Braithwaite, Jennifer Northcote and Robert Mason (securities/corporate) and Lianne Miller (tax).

Blake, Cassels & Graydon LLP acted for the agents with a team comprised of Jeff Glass, Anoop Dogra and Robyn Keinick (securities/corporate) and Ron Richler (tax). State Street Trust Company Canada, the trustee for the trust, was represented by Robert Stephen, vice-president and associate counsel, and by Torys LLP with a team that included Karen Malatest and Dawn Scott.
