Brian Thiessen made the move to Osler, where he continues to advise on employment and labour law and especially on privacy-related matters. Thiessen spent 16 years at Blakes, where he co-led the firm’s national employment and labour practice. He has acted on many high-profile deals including KUFPEC Canada acquiring a 30 per cent interest in Chevron Canada’s Duvernay shale play and the Sobeys acquisition of Safeway. Thiessen is the Vice Chair of the Calgary Police Commission, has served on the board of Ronald McDonald House and was President of the Alberta Party from 2009 to 2012.
