CIBC Sells Interest in Banker's Hall to Gentra Inc.

On August 30, 2000, Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce completed the sale to Gentra Inc. for $26.5 million of CIBC’s interest in the landmark Banker’s Hall in Calgary. This transaction consolidated Gentra’s ownership interest in the property. Gentra had previously acquired ownership of the Banker’s Hall buildings from TrizecHahn Corporation (as reported in the July/August 2000 issue of Lexpert).

Blake, Cassels & Graydon LLP assisted CIBC in the negotiation of the transaction with a team that included Jim Hilton, Dorothy Wahl, Silvana D’Alimonte, Thomas von Hahn, Frances Peng (Toronto), and Carol Reesor (Calgary). Gentra was represented by Stikeman Elliott whose team included Barry Emes, Greg Plater, Stephanie Uhlich and Jessica Green of Calgary.
