GE Commercial Finance Acquires Bombardier Capital's Inventory Finance Division

GE Commercial Finance (GE), the business-to-business financial services unit of the General Electric Company, completed its previously announced US$2.3 billion acquisition of Bombardier Capital's Inventory Finance division (BCIFD) on May 31, 2005. BCIFD, which was part of the financing division of Bombardier Inc., provides floor plan financing for a diverse range of equipment in Canada and the US.

In Canada, GE was represented by Paula Hurwitz, associate general counsel – Canada, and assisted by Davies Ward Phillips & Vineberg LLP with a team that included Ken Klassen, Sonny Bhalla and Alain Roberge (corporate), John Bodrug and Mark Katz (competition).

Bombardier was represented by Alain Doré, senior director, legal services, and George Demas, vice-president legal services at Bombardier Capital, and assisted by Ogilvy Renault LLP with a team that included Renaud Coulombe and Nicolas Labrecque (corporate), Robert Borduas and Alain Ricard (banking), Jules Charette, Éric Gélinas and Yves St-Cyr (tax) and Richard Wagner (competition).
