Maple Leaf Refinances Arrangements with TD Bank

On October 3, 2003, Maple Leaf Foods Inc. refinanced its existing arrangements with TD Bank pursuant to a syndicated loan facility in the aggregate amount of $605 million. TD Bank acted as administrative agent to a syndicate of lenders, which included Rabobank Nederland Canadian Branch, Bank of Montreal, Royal Bank of Canada, National Bank of Canada, TD Bank, The Bank of Nova Scotia, BNP Paribas (Canada), Bank One, NA, Canada Branch and Bank of Tokyo-Mitsubishi (Canada). TD Bank also provided a swingline facility to Maple Leaf Foods in the amount of $30 million. The loan facilities were guaranteed by three subsidiaries of Maple Leaf Foods.

Maple Leaf Foods was represented by Osler, Hoskin & Harcourt LLP, with a team led by Laurie Barrett and including Lisa Shostack, Charles Zienius and Tammy Lo. TD Bank was represented by McCarthy Tétrault LLP, with a team that included Stephen Furlan, Barry Ryan and Stevan Pepa.
