Melinda Park was appointed chair of BLG’s governing body, or national council, effective July 1, 2016. She is the first woman to hold the role. She replaces Robert Shouldice, who has chaired the council since 2013. Park is an accomplished securities lawyer who recently led on deals such as Petra Petroleum’s acquisition of Mitra Energy and PetroNova’s plan of arrangement with Petroamerica. She is an active member of the Calgary community and serves on the board of the Sheldon Kennedy Child Advocacy Centre. She has two sons.
