Norigen Completes $122.5 Million Private Equity

Norigen Comunications Group Inc., a competitive local exchange carrier acting as an integrated communications provider, announced on March 2, 2000 the completion of a $122.5 million third party equity financing led by Chase Capital Partners and Harrowston Inc. and joined by a group led by Dolphin Communications Partners as well as a group of Norigen’s existing investors.

For Norigen, the matter was led by Valerie Seager, General Counsel at Norigen who called on a team from Torys to act on the private equity financing. The Torys team consisted of Darren Sukonick, Peter Walker, Theresa Gregoire, with Charles Dalfen on regulatory matters, John Unger on Canadian tax matters and Peter Keenan on US tax matters. Jeffrey Blidner, Jenny Chu Steinberg and Susan Guttman of Goodman & Carr and Christian Tacit of Nelligan. Power in Ottawa acted as Canadian counsel for Harrowston and other investors. In the U.S., Edwards & Angell acted for the existing investors and Mayer Brown & Platt acted for certain of the new investors, including Chase Capital Partners.
