Osmington and CPP Board Acquire Five Shopping Malls

Osmington Inc., in partnership with CPP Investment Board Real Estate Holdings Inc., purchased five shopping malls in Ontario from The Cadillac Fairview Corporation Limited and Ontrea Inc. for approximately $300 million. The deal closed on January 8, 2003.

Osmington was represented by Borden Ladner Gervais LLP, with a team that included Morty Gross, Q.C., Noella Milne, Katrina Myers, Jenette Boycott and Brennan Carroll. CPP Investment Board Real Estate Holdings was represented by Gordon Sato and John Currie (real property) and Nigel Johnston (tax) of McCarthy Tétrault LLP.

Andrea Stephen, executive vice-president, investments; Phil Runions, portfolio manager, investments; and Sandra Hardy, senior vice-president, corporate, led the negotiations on behalf of Cadillac Fairview and Ontrea.
