PMC-Sierra, Inc. Acquires Datum Telegraphic Inc.

PMC-Sierra, Inc. (PMC), a Nasdaq listed United States communications chip manufacturer, completed the acquisition of Datum Telegraphic Inc. (Datum), a Vancouver, British Columbia-based wireless semiconductor company, on Friday, July 21, 2000. The acquisition of Datum, which has developed a patented power amplifier linearization technology, is expected to contribute to PMC’s expanding portfolio of 3G wireless solutions. PMC paid a total of approximately US$128.8 million for the 92 per cent of the common shares of Datum that it did not already own through the issuance of cash and shares of PMC Common Stock.
