Scotiabank and Rogers Offer Financial Services Through iTV

On December 13, 2000, Scotiabank and Rogers Cable Inc. (Rogers) entered into an agreement to make Scotiabank’s financial services available through Rogers’ interative (iTV) services. This innovative service will provide customers Internet access to financial services through their television sets without any requirement for personal computers. The financial services to be included through iTV include: account information, fund transfers, bill payments, top stock performers, analyst recommendations, financial tools as well as rates for mutual funds, mortgages, Visa cards, GICs and RRSPs. Scotiabank is the first Canadian bank to develop this innovative service with Rogers, which will make the Internet more accessible to the almost 50 per cent of Canadian households currently without access.

Rogers was represented in-house by Jennifer Warren, Vice-President, Assistant General Counsel, and by Sherri Kreisman from Torys. Scotiabank was represented by in-house counsel Michael Davenport.
