Telesat Completes Public Offering

On November 8, 2001, Telesat Canada, a world leader in satellite operations and systems management, completed its public offering of 8.20 per cent series 2001 notes due November 7, 2008 in an aggregate principal amount of $125 million. Telesat is a wholly owned subsidiary of BCE Inc., one of the world’s premier telecommunications companies.

Telesat’s vice-president, law, Jennifer Perkins was assisted by a Stikeman Elliott team led by Jamie Davis and Ron Ferguson included Matthew Howorth (securities) and Julie Muirhead (tax). A syndicate of underwriters was led by CIBC World Markets Inc. and National Bank Financial, and included BMO Nesbitt Burns Inc. and RBC Capital Markets Inc. Osler, Hoskin & Harcourt LLP acted for the underwriters with a team led by James Fordyce and Don Gilchrist that included Alexis Gosselin (securities) and Monica Biringer (tax).
