Competition law. Heads Blakes’ Competition Litigation Team. Advises corporate clients with respect to the Competition Act; including conspiracy, bid-rigging, trade association activities, misleading advertising, mergers and other reviewable trade practices. Regularly advises clients with respect to regulatory approval under the Competition Act and the Investment Canada Act, in respect of major transactions. Has acted as litigation counsel in cases under various provisions of the Competition Act, including experience in class actions. Developed a recognized proficiency in the misleading advertising field and has acted as counsel in some of the leading comparative advertising cases in Canada, including Church & Dwight v. Sifto and UPS v. Purolator. Active contributor to the work of the International Competition Network as a non-governmental advisor. Vice Chair of the International Committee of the American Bar Association. Admitted to Ontario Bar in 1986.
