Counsel. Focuses his legal practice on business law, with special emphasis on franchising and licensing. General counsel to the CFA, 1983-93. Member of the ABA’s forum committee on franchising since 1984. Named in The Canadian Legal Lexpert® Directory every year since its inception as one of the leading franchise practitioners. Represented Canada on the franchise industry advisory committee of the North American Securities Administrators Association from 1985 to 1993, participating in the drafting of its Model Franchise Investment Act and the revisions to its Uniform Franchise Offering Circular (UFOC) and the UFOC Guidelines. Has spoken and written extensively throughout North America on such subjects as structuring unit and multilevel franchise systems, international master franchising, strategic partnering, protection of intellectual property, franchise registration/disclosure laws and compliance techniques, franchise relationship laws, contract enforcement, and ADR methods. Called to the Ontario Bar in 1979.
