John A. Coleman is a senior partner and advisor. Before taking on the National Managing Partner position in 2009, Mr. Coleman's employment and labour practice focused on matters pertaining to federally regulated industries such as banking, transportation and communications. He has appeared on numerous occasions before the Canada Industrial Relations Board, labour arbitrators and the courts as counsel for major private and public sector clients. Mr. Coleman served as National Managing Partner of Norton Rose Fulbright Canada from 2009 to 2014. After obtaining a BA in Classics from McGill University, Mr. Coleman attended Oxford University on a Rhodes scholarship where he obtained a BA in Jurisprudence in 1978. He was called to the Québec Bar in1981 and later taught labour law at the Faculty of Law at McGill University. Mr. Coleman has been an active member of the community and has served on a number of philanthropic organizations and foundations. He was appointed a mentor of the Pierre Elliott Trudeau Foundation in 2016.
