Trent Horne is a partner in the Toronto office of Aird Berlis. He practises in all areas of intellectual property and has been Certified by the Law Society of Upper Canada as a Specialist in Intellectual Property Law: Patent/Trademark/Copyright. Trent has appeared as counsel in numerous trials and appeals involving a wide range of subject matter, including genetically modified plants, pharmaceuticals, vaccines, vehicle suspensions, manufacturing equipment, souvenir merchandise, smartphone applications and photographs. He is a Registered Trademark Agent in Canada and is involved in trademark prosecution, summary cancellation and opposition proceedings. Trent writes extensively on intellectual property, including co-authoring two texts on Federal Court practice and procedure - Federal Courts of Canada Service and Canadian Federal Courts Practice. He is frequently asked to give presentations on intellectual property and advocacy. Trent is a member of the Federal Courts Rules Committee, the Advocates' Society, the Intellectual Property Institute of Canada (serving as Chair of its Litigation Committee), and the Canadian Bar Association (serving on its Trademarks and Federal Court IP Practice Committees).
