Partner and Registered Patent and Trademark Agent in Canada and the United States. Practice is focused on patent preparation and prosecution, licensing and technology transfer, acquisition and divestiture of technology, and patent-related opinions. Acts for clients in the fields of biotechnology, nanotechnology, pharmaceuticals, agriculture and forestry, and in the oil and gas industry. Ted teaches patent and industrial design law at the University of Alberta, in the Faculty of Law, and is a frequent speaker on current topics in patent law in Canada and the United States. Former member of the Patent Agent Examining Board, and current member of Intellectual Property Institute of Canada, the Licensing Executives Society, the Association of University Technology Managers, Alberta Health Industry Association, and BioAlberta. Ted has served as a board member or organizer for numerous charitable and non-profit organizations, and currently volunteers for TEC Source, TEC Edmonton VenturePrize, Scottish United Soccer Club, and the Alberta Soccer Association.
