Chris Huband is a partner in the Commercial Real Estate Group at Blake, Cassels & Graydon LLP. Practice focuses on the acquisition and disposition of commercial real estate assets, including office buildings, shopping centres, apartments and industrial buildings. Advises pension funds and their advisors on rules particular to real estate investments by pension funds. Also practises in the area of mortgage financings, real estate joint ventures and the development of real property. Recent transactions include the $1.175 billion sale of an undivided 50 per cent interest in the Richmond-Adelaide Centre and two Calgary office buildings for Oxford Properties Group and the purchase of a 30 per cent non-managing interest in the six office towers of the Toronto-Dominion Centre and a nearby office development site for Ontario Pension Board. Financing deals include mortgage loans secured by office buildings, apartment complexes and industrial buildings on behalf of numerous institutional clients. Development experience includes the acquisition and development of office/hotel properties at 18 York Street and 120 Bremner Boulevard in downtown Toronto.
