Bill Kaplan is a partner who practises in the areas of all litigation matters related to business law at Blake, Cassels & Graydon LLP. He has a particular practice focus on corporate commercial matters, construction and development law, insolvency law, including numerous cross-border cases, securities law matters, and corporate governance issues. Bill has appeared before all levels of the courts system in British Columbia, the Supreme Court of Canada, the Federal Court of Canada, the BC Securities Commission and numerous other administrative tribunals and arbitration boards. Bill has practised in the full range of dispute resolution contexts from traditional trials and related pre-trial procedures to arbitrations and mediations. He has written and taught in the area of alternative dispute resolution and brings that experience to his practice. Bill is currently an Adjunct Professor of law at the University of British Columbia, teaching negotiations. Bill received his LLB from the University of British Columbia in 1979, he was admitted to the Bar in British Columbia in 1980, received an LLM degree from Harvard University in 1981 and was appointed Queen’s Counsel in 2001.
