Called to the British Columbia Bar in 1990. Partner and Vancouver regional leader of BLG’s Commercial Litigation Group and Class Actions Group. He has successfully defended numerous class actions in a broad range of claims, including constitutional issues, consumer law and contract claims, competition or product liability claims, through all stages from pre-certification dismissal applications through certification applications and certification appeals, and trial of common issues and appeals. Clients have included the Government of British Columbia, leading Canadian financial institutions and retailers and some of the world’s largest multinational manufacturers. Recently acted as defence counsel in Koubi v. Mazda Canada, 2012 BCCA 310, leave to appeal denied (SCC), the leading authority precluding claims for restitution or waiver of tort based on alleged breach of statute.
