Guy was called to the Ontario Bar in 1984 and to the Québec Bar in 2002 and became Fellow of the American College of Trial Lawyers in 2006. Fully bilingual, he has an active practice in Québec and Ontario, in both civil litigation and advocacy with a focus on commercial litigation, class actions, administrative and constitutional law. In addition to a busy trial practice, he regularly acts as appellate counsel in Ontario, Québec and Federal Courts of Appeal and appears frequently before the Supreme Court of Canada. He acted as lead counsel in several public inquiry commissions and regularly presents conferences on various topics relating to trial advocacy. As an Adjunct Professor at the University of Toronto, he taught a course on the Supreme Court of Canada in 2011. He is also a member of the SCC Advocacy Institute. He is a former President and co-founder of Pro Bono Québec, a non-profit organization created in 2008 which provides non-profit pro bono legal services to Québec citizens. Following the creating of Pro Bono Québec, Guy acted as lead counsel for Réjean Hinse, a gentleman who in 2011 received the largest award of damages to date for a wrongful conviction against the Federal and Provincial governments.
