Senior Counsel in the Vancouver office. Fellow of the American College of Trial Lawyers and has acted primarily as counsel in appellate litigation. Involved in numerous appeals before the Supreme Court of Canada, Court of Appeal for British Columbia and the Federal Court of Appeal. Experience includes commercial law, Aboriginal law, constitutional law and judicial review of administrative action and of international arbitration awards. Acted as counsel at all levels of court for the Ministry of the Attorney General of British Columbia and for private clients on Aboriginal rights and title claims made by First Nations. Has also assisted counsel to the Government of Mexico on issues involving the dispute settlement mechanisms in the North American Free Trade Agreement, and on NAFTA Chapter 11 Investor-State disputes. Frequent lecturer on appellate advocacy and developments in Aboriginal law. Appointed QC in 1998. Admitted to the British Columbia Bar in 1978.
