Brenda Swick’s practice focuses on international trade and customs, government contracting, and anti-corruption. She regularly advises clients in relation to export controls, economic sanctions, and customs including antidumping and countervail matters. She has represented industry and government in several dispute settlement cases under the WTO/NAFTA and CUSMA. Formerly legal counsel with the Government of Canada. Appointed by the Government of Canada as an expert arbitrator under Chapter 10 of the CUSMA. Acts for government contractors in bid challenge disputes before PSPC, CITT, and provincial agencies and courts. Provides advice on bid preparation/contract negotiation, including security clearances/Controlled Goods Program. In her anti-corruption compliance practice, she has counselled, written corporate compliance programs, and conducted anti-corruption training and audits for Fortune 500 companies. Broad expertise in regulatory compliance includes representation of clients in the mining, defence, agri-food, dairy, food, pharmaceutical, medical devices, transportation, manufacturing, technology, and consumer product sectors. Appears before courts in judicial review applications.
