Andrew Nathanson has a broad litigation practice with a focus on complex commercial litigation and white-collar crime. He is active in shareholder litigation, notably involved in representing Lions Gate Entertainment in successfully resisting the Icahn Group's hostile take-over bid, proxy contest and oppression proceedings. Andrew has particular experience in the mining, hospitality and entertainment industries. He is currently defending a closely-watched international human rights claim against a Canadian mining company. Andrew is also the co-Leader of Fasken Martineau’s White Collar Defence and Investigations Group, with substantial experience in criminal, regulatory defence and constitutional cases. Andrew has appeared before all levels of court including the Supreme Court of Canada. Many of Andrew's cases involve multi-jurisdictional disputes, and he is an honourary member of the UK's Commercial Bar Association. Andrew has lectured and written on directors’ and officers’ liability, restitution, civil litigation, advocacy and legal ethics. From 2004–2016, he taught civil procedure as an Adjunct Professor at the University of British Columbia’s Faculty of Law and he is currently co-Chair of CLE BC’s Winning Advocacy Skills Workshop.
