Kevin O’Callaghan is a partner and Leader of Fasken Martineau's Aboriginal Law Practice Group, as well as being the founding member of the firm’s Corporate Social Responsibility Law Group. His expertise in Aboriginal consultation is augmented by his knowledge of mining, environmental, project permitting and regulatory law in Western and Northern Canada, acting on behalf of clients from around the world. Kevin's litigation practice involves complex commercial litigation with an emphasis on environmental issues. He has advised clients on a myriad of environmental matters including environmental assessment, cost recovery actions, ground water contamination and regulatory offences. He provides ongoing advice to resource companies on obligations to, and agreements with, First Nations. Kevin has appeared before the Supreme Court of Canada three times and routinely appears before courts, tribunals and arbitration panels on behalf of mining, forestry, and oil & gas companies. He is a member of the CSR Committee of the Prospectors and Developers Association of Canada and the International Bar Association. Kevin is consistently recognized for his legal expertise in top publications. He was called to the BC Bar in 2000, the Northwest Territories Bar in 2006 and the Yukon Bar in 2010.
