Richard Clare is chair of Fasken Martineau’s Property Law Group. He specializes in real estate and commercial law, with considerable expertise in real estate financing, development, portfolio dispositions and acquisitions. Richard regularly advises financial institutions, purchasers, vendors and developers on issues relating to the financing, sale, purchase and development of commercial properties in the Province of Québec. His advice is frequently sought by joint venture partners for real estate projects in the context of negotiating limited partnership agreements, co-ownership agreements and development and management agreements. He also works with real estate developers in establishing mixed-use projects using divided co-ownership, both horizontal and vertical, and rights of superficies. Richard is widely recognized as one of Canada’s best real estate lawyers. He is known both for his technical skills and pragmatic approach to finding solutions to achieve his clients’ goals. He was called to the Québec Bar in 1976.
