Sam Rickett practises a variety of corporate/commercial civil litigation and has appeared at all levels of court, including the Supreme Court of Canada. Sam’s extensive capital markets experience includes acting as counsel for the Special Committee in respect of the elimination of the dual class shares in Magna International Inc., acting for Hollinger Inc. in respect of claims brought against its former Board of Directors and acting for First Quantum Minerals Ltd. in its $5.1-billion offer for Inmet and CP in the proxy battle with Pershing Square. Sam has also been involved in a number of corporate litigation matters including shareholder disputes involving claims for oppression, and dissent and fair value claims. He has acted in a number of securities-related litigation cases and for numerous participants in the capital markets in litigious matters including brokerage firms, funds managers and insurance companies. He has also acted in many litigious matters involving corporate reorganizations and arrangements. Sam has acted for numerous public companies involved in the mining and resources industry in respect of International Arbitration and a variety of lawsuits in Africa, Central and South America. He is recommended for his litigation expertise in leading legal publications.
