David Tang practises municipal/planning and charities/not-for-profit law, often where those two disciplines intersect. He provides strategy and advice to landowners and appears regularly before the Ontario Land Tribunal and the courts. He proactively advises on property taxes, including charitable exemptions. He has configured entities for energy generation/distribution and housing and structured relationships between not-for-profits and municipalities to advance societal purposes. He provides a full range of advice to charities and not-for-profits, with particular experience in religious organizations and structuring relationships between Canadian and international charities and providing practical governance advice. His unique focus includes helping charities redevelop land and advising on joint ventures with commercial developers which both preserve their exempt status and work practically.  He is recognized by Chambers and Best Lawyers for charities/not-for-profit and municipal law respectively.  He has taught or lectured at post-secondary institutions, served on the boards of, or volunteered with many charities, including Intervarsity Christian Fellowship of Canada.
