Carol Hansell is an internationally recognized expert in corporate governance. She advises on special committee mandates, board investigations, governance design and reviews, shareholder engagements as well as board evaluations and effectiveness. Carol is an experienced director. She serves on the boards of the Munich Reinsurance Company of Canada, the Global Risk Institute in Financial Services and the International Corporate Governance Network. Previous boards include the Bank of Canada, the Public Sector Pension Investment Board, Toronto East General Hospital, the Toronto Symphony Orchestra and SickKids Foundation. She a Fellow of the Institute of Corporate Directors and of the American College of Governance Counsel and the recipient of the Lifetime Achievement Award in Investor Relations. Carol is the only non-American to serve as Chair of the Corporate Governance Committee of the American Bar Association and serves Special Canadian Advisor to the Corporate Laws Committee of the ABA. She is Chair of the Business Law Advisory Council, established to advise the Province of Ontario. Carol has taught in the ICD-Rotman Directors Education Program for many years and publishes and speaks widely in the governance area.
