Extensive knowledge and experience representing First Nations with respect to many of Canada’s largest resource-based projects and economic development initiatives. Through his work, Amyn seeks to provide sophisticated representation for First Nations clients that is rooted in respect and an understanding of the unique rights of his clients. Amyn’s client focused approach has facilitated sustainable and beneficial business arrangements with respect to the development of mines, hydroelectric projects, oil & gas, pipelines and aggregate projects on their Traditional Territories. He has represented First Nation development corporations, advising boards on their roles, responsibilities and potential liabilities. In addition, he facilitates partnerships and joint ventures with industries that seek to maximize preferences acquired under accommodation agreements. Amyn has assisted numerous First Nations with the establishment and implementation of various governance initiatives. Amyn has extensive experience representing First Nations in provincial and federal environmental and regulatory review proceedings, including submissions before the Canadian Environmental Assessment Agency, National Energy Board and the Alberta Energy Regulator.
