Formerly the co-chair of the firm's Toronto/Markham Commercial Litigation Group, Michael's practice focuses on commercial litigation, encompassing construction litigation, including construction liens, breach of contract and negligence and design issues, franchise litigation, condominium litigation, product liability litigation, employment law, general contractual disputes, partnership and corporate litigation, shareholder disputes, insolvency, receivership and trust actions. Michael has also been involved in bringing and responding to numerous injunctions and applications to obtain the return of chattels and in collection proceedings. He is experienced in representing clients before tribunals and the courts. Acting for clients in a wide range of industries, Michael has special expertise in the construction industry. He handles a variety of significant and complex litigation in advancing claims and protecting the interests of clients. Michael is the principal instructor for the Construction Law Course offered by the Toronto Construction Association, which he authored, teaches and supervises. In 2013, Michael was the recipient of The Construction Institute of Canada’s Chancellor’s Award of Excellence.
