Co-leader of Miller Thomson’s National Aboriginal Law Group; and the leader of its Medical Marijuana Industry Group, Sandra’s practice focuses on project development in the natural resource and energy sector, with expertise in dealing with Aboriginal and environmental issues. Sandra has worked in both private and public sectors, including the Ministry of Natural Resources (Ontario), where she advised on Aboriginal consultation requirements for hydro, wind power and forestry development. She acts for mid- to large-sized national and international clients in the hydroelectric, mining and oil and gas sectors on a variety of matters relating to project development, including environmental and regulatory requirements, assessment of Aboriginal and treaty rights, and the negotiation of impact and benefit agreements and other commercial agreements with First Nations and Métis people. Recognized as a leading practitioner among her peers, Sandra has achieved status as a Chambers Global ranked lawyer in Aboriginal Law. She is currently a member of the Canadian Aboriginal Minerals Association; Ontario Mining Association; Counsel on Corporate Aboriginal Relations; and National Chair, CBA Aboriginal Law Section. She is called in Newfoundland and Ontario.
