Patrick E. Kierans is the global co-head of the Life Sciences and Healthcare practice and is a senior partner at Norton Rose Fulbright Canada LLP. He is based in Toronto. Patrick practises in all areas of intellectual property law as a barrister, solicitor, Trademark Agent and Patent Agent. He practises before the Federal Court of Canada, the Courts of Ontario, Québec and the Supreme Court of Canada. He is particularly well regarded for his patent litigation practice, where he has very extensive experience particularly in the field of pharmaceutical patents. In this regard, he has represented many of the world’s largest multinational innovative companies such as Pfizer, GlaxoSmithKline, Merck, Gilead Sciences, Boehringer Ingelheim, Bristol-Myers Squibb, Astellas and GE Healthcare. He has been a member of his firm’s management and executive committees and head of the intellectual property group. He is a member of various professional organizations. For 10 years, he taught the intellectual property law course in the Law Faculty of McGill University.
