Mark A. Gelowitz is a senior partner in the litigation department of Osler, Hoskin & Harcourt LLP. He is chair of the firm’s National Corporate and Securities Litigation Group. Mark has a business-focused civil litigation, appellate litigation and international commercial arbitration practice. His cases have covered a wide variety of issues in corporate and commercial law including mergers & acquisitions litigation, directors’ & officers’ liability, oppression remedy, libel and slander, product liability, mining litigation and class actions procedure. Mark has appeared before all levels of courts and tribunals in numerous jurisdictions across Canada, and in international arbitrations in Canada, England, Switzerland, Poland and Italy. He completed the BCL degree at Oxford University in 1989 between clerking for the Chief Justice of Saskatchewan and the late Justice Sopinka of the Supreme Court of Canada. Mark has had a number of legal publications including a book co-authored with the late Justice Sopinka entitled The Conduct of an Appeal, Third Edition (LexisNexis 2012).
