Partner and head of intellectual property — practice focuses primarily on intellectual property litigation. Developed a broad range of experience as a litigator. Recognized by Lexpert® as Consistently Recommended for Litigation – Intellectual Property expertise and in the International Who's Who of Life Sciences 2016. Appeared before all levels of the Federal Court and the Ontario Court, as well as the Supreme Court of Canada. Practice is primarily in the area of pharmaceutical patents, but also includes trademark and copyright matters. Has written papers and given presentations for IPIC, LSUC and the CBA, including presentations to the Federal Court judges and prothonotaries. Has taught the Patent Agent Tutorials for IPIC and at the IPIC McGill Patents course. Served on many committees, including the CBA Federal Court Bench and Bar Committee, the IPIC Litigation Committee, and IPIC Council. Past president of IPIC. Currently serves as a member of the IPIC Privilege and Self Governance Committee and as co-Chair of one of the working groups in the Canadian Intellectual Property Office (CIPO) initiative “Modernizing the IP Community” a joint collaboration of CIPO and intellectual property professionals in Canada and their associations (IPIC, AIPPI and FICPI).
