Partner practising in corporate commercial law with an emphasis on M&A, corporate reorganizations and shareholder arrangements. Works with domestic and multinational corporations, both public and private; engaged in a wide range of industries, including food processing, technology, transportation, mining, packaging, energy, gaming and sports. Head of the corporate department in Toronto and was a member of the Management Committee of the Toronto office (2002–08). Member of LSUC and CBA. He is on the board of the Varsity Grads Foundation, past member of the Executive Committee of the Alumni Association of Princeton University and the Alumni Council of the U of T’s Faculty of Law. Past President, Princeton Alumni Association of Canada and the U of T Men’s Varsity Blues T-Holders Association. Mandates include acting as Canadian counsel to Goldman Sachs Equity Partners in connection with its €1.2 billion acquisition of the Pirelli Cable and Wire business; acting for Medtronic Inc. in connection with the $400 million acquisition of Cryocath Technologies Inc.; and acting as Canadian counsel for the Lenovo Group Ltd. in connection with the US$1.25 billion acquisition of IBM’s personal computer business.
