Julie Abouchar, BSc (Hons), LLB, BCL, LLM, is a Law Society Certified Specialist in Environmental Law. Julie has particular experience with environmental law issues including water protection, contaminated land, environmental assessment, environmental risk analysis, transactional due diligence and compliance. She assists with renewable energy and transmission projects and helps obtain environmental and renewable energy approvals. Julie appeals environmental regulatory orders and approvals and appears before the National Energy Board and Ontario Energy Board. She assists with environmental inspections and investigations and negotiates with regulators. Julie has a substantial Aboriginal law practice, negotiating and drafting resource agreements for industry and Aboriginal clients, advising on Aboriginal consultation and facilitating dispute resolution in the mining, infrastructure and energy sectors. Julie advises about resource development in Canada’s near and far north. Julie is co-author of Ontario Water Law, published by Canada Law Book, ranked Repeatedly Recommended by The Canadian Legal Lexpert® Directory for Environmental Law and Aboriginal Law, and selected annually for The Best Lawyers in Canada for environmental law, Aboriginal law, and energy regulatory law.
