Sun Life Capital Trust, a subsidiary of Sun Life Assurance Company of Canada, completed an offering of $200 million of Sun Life ExchangEable Capital Securities series B (SLEECS series B) on June 25, 2002. Sun Life Capital Trust is a special purpose entity set up to issue securities that qualify as tier-one capital for regulatory purposes. This offering is a follow-up to the $950 million offering of SLEECS series A last fall.
Sun Life was represented in-house by Natalie Ochrym and William Zeyl. Torys LLP acted for Sun Life Assurance, with a team that included Matt Cockburn, Phil Mohtadi, Paul Guthrie and David Boyko (corporate), Blair Keefe (regulatory) and Lucia ten Kortenaar, Tim Rorabeck and Craig Burley (tax).
