Brookfield Renewable Power Inc. (BRPI) completed a public offering on February 4, 2009 of $300 million principal amount of 8.75 per cent Medium Term Notes, Series 5 due 2012. The Notes were offered pursuant to an amended and restated prospectus supplement dated January 30, 2009 to a short-form base shelf prospectus dated July 28, 2008.
The Notes were offered by a syndicate led by CIBC World Markets Inc. and Scotia Capital Inc., and which included RBC Dominion Securities Inc., TD Securities Inc., BMO Nesbitt Burns Inc. and HSBC Securities (Canada) Inc. BRPI intends to use the net proceeds of the offering to repay indebtedness and for general corporate purposes.
BRPI was represented internally by Shaun Logue and Patricia Bood with assistance of a team from Torys LLP that included Adam Armstrong, Karrin Powys-Lybbe, Jonathan Cescon and Carol McFadzean (corporate) and Jim Welkoff and Catrina Card (tax).
The syndicate of agents was represented by Goodmans LLP with a team that included Lawrence Chernin, Bill Gorman, David Nathanson (corporate/securities) and Jarrett Freeman (tax).
