AVW and TELAV Merge

AVW, an operating unit of The Freeman Companies, and TELAV Inc., a portfolio company of Berkshire Partners LLC, merged to form the Total Show Audio Visual Company on July 12, 2001. The new entity is one of North America’s largest suppliers of audio/visual equipment to hotels and convention facilities.

Working on the transaction for AVW at Borden Ladner Gervais LLP’s Toronto office were Victoria Prince, Gord Raman, Larissa Tkachenko, Rob Weir, Rebecca Chan, Eva Chan, Karin MacArthur, Lisa Katz-Jones, Brennan Carroll and Jon Dyck. Rick Shannon and Rhonda Friesen of Borden Ladner Gervais LLP’s Montreal office also assisted in the transaction. Acting for McCarthy Tétrault LLP on behalf of Berkshire Partners and TELAV were David Armstrong, Brian Graves, Katherine Brown, Stephanie Haladner (business), and Jerald Wortsman and Andrew Silverman (tax). Acting at Fasken Martineau DuMoulin LLP on behalf of certain principals of TELAV were Jon Levin and Bill Bies.
