The province of British Columbia completed a US$750 million global offering on October 3, 2001 of 4-5/8 per cent bonds due October 3, 2006, listed on the Luxembourg Stock Exchange.
The province was represented by Michael Shepherd of the Ministry of the Attorney General and Brice T. Voran, Nancy Hoi Bertrand and Julian Fletcher of Shearman & Sterling in Toronto. The lead underwriters for the bonds were Lehman Brothers Inc. and Merrill Lynch, Pierce, Fenner & Smith Incorporated. The other underwriters were CIBC World Markets, Deutsche Banc Alex. Brown Inc., NBC International (U.S.A.) Inc., Credit Suisse First Boston Corporation, JP Morgan Securities Inc., RBC Dominion Securities Inc., Salomon Smith Barney Inc. and TD Securities (U.S.A.) Inc. The underwriters were represented by Winthrop Conrad and Sandip Bhattacharji of Davis Polk & Wardwell, and by Herb Dodd of Farris, Vaughan, Wills & Murphy.
