BPO Properties and Partners Complete $310M First Mortgage Bond Financing of First Canadian Place

BPO Properties Ltd., along with ownership partners Canada Pension Plan Investment Board and Alberta Investment Management Corporation, completed the refinancing of First Canadian Place in Toronto with $310 million, five-year first mortgage bonds by their subsidiary First Place Tower Brookfield Properties Inc. CIBC World Markets Inc. and RBC Dominion Securities Inc. acted as agents on the transaction, which closed December 1, 2009.

First Place Tower Brookfield Properties Inc. was represented in-house by a team that comprised Deborah Rogers, Elliott Feintuch, Elizabeth Phalen and Amelia Nasrallah and externally by Bennett Jones LLP, with a team that comprised S. Paul Mantini, Juliana Abdo, Scott Martyn, Aleksandra Finelli and Adam Taylor.

The agents and the bondholders were represented by a team from Osler, Hoskin & Harcourt LLP that included George Valentini, Stella Di Cresce and Mark Hogan.
