Cambridge Acquisition

On September 1, 1999, Cambridge Shopping Centres Limited completed its purchase of the shares of Laing Property Corporation. The Laing portfolio, acquired for $500 million, comprises 3.5 million square feet of gross leasable area and includes eight retail properties. A Fraser Milner team headed by Chris Pinnington on the real estate side, and Rick Scott on the corporate side, and supported by Jim Janetos, Yvonne McAndrew, Heidi Clark, Jillian Shortt, Barbara Kilner and John Smith acted for Cambridge. Laing Properties’ advisors were led by G. Blair Cowper-Smith of McCarthy Tetrault, who was supported by Doug Klaassen, Stephen Furlan and John Currie.
