Euro Medium Term Note Programmes Cleared Through New UK Listing Authority

The Financial Services Authority (FSA) took over from the London Stock Exchange plc as UK Listing Authority under the Financial Services Act 1986 in 2000. Peter S. Noble of Ogilvy Renault’s London office acted as arranger’s counsel for Merrill Lynch International in respect of the clearance of the Province of Alberta’s US$2.2 billion Euro Medium Term Note Programme on November 10, 2000. Donald Svitich, Ministry of the Attorney General, represented Alberta in respect of the clearance of the Province of Manitoba’s US$1 billion Euro Medium Term Note Programme on February 22, 2001, with C. Lynn Romeo, General Counsel, Civil Legal Services, Manitoba Department of Justice representing Manitoba.

Peter S. Noble and Frank L. Picciola of Ogilvy Renault’s London office also acted as arranger’s counsel for Lehman Brothers International in respect of the clearance of Bank of Montreal’s US$3 billion Euro Medium Term Note Programme on December 20, 2000, with Robert Yalden and Desmond Lee of Osler, Hoskin & Harcourt’s Toronto office representing Bank of Montreal.
