On May 7, 2004, the Great-West Life Assurance Co. completed the sale of Station Square Shopping Centre in Burnaby, BC for a sale price of approximately $50 million. The purchase was funded, in part, by mortgage financing secured from the Royal Bank of Canada. The purchaser, a partnership of the Anthem Group and the Beedie Group, was represented by Koffman Kalef, with a team that included Patrick Julian for acquisition purposes, Leslie Tucker on the financings and David Pedlow for tax and partnership purposes.
Great-West Life was represented by George Mucalov of Harper Grey Easton, and by Christopher Huband and Jeffrey Merrick of Blake, Cassels & Graydon.
Royal Bank was represented by Andrew Jackson of Fasken Martineau DuMoulin, and Anne Kober and Brent Lewis, also of Fasken Martineau, represented the second mortgagee, Kebet Holdings Ltd.
